FERNDALE 3 v COUNDEN COURT 0

This was the girls last game of the season and with only 10 players available, we were looking to finish with another 3 points to make 3 wins out of the last 3 game and help stamp a good place in the league.

Playing 3-4-2 formation, we chose to go uphill in the first half. Kirsten and Mel were dominating the midfield for the opening 15 minutes and lots of chances were falling to Sophie Bradshaw and Jodi Boraston up front, but due to some off target shooting and good defending, we just could not put the ball in the net.

We swapped Jodi Borast to right wing and pushed the pacey Sophi Johnson up front.

This tactic worked and to be fair, some great defending from Coundon’s No4 denied chances by both Sophie’s until 44 minutes until Sophie J hit a screamer from the right outside box into the top left corner. A great goal.

The second half started like the first and Sophi got her second of the game on 55 miutes after a goalmouth scramble.

Counden started to get more of the play as our girls legs got tired but some stout defending by Lucy, Nat & Rosie denied them any chances.

Mel’s shot on 75 minutes forced an own goal from the home side, although i think Mel will claim it.

A very proud finish for the team.

Well done girls and i look forward to hopefully seeing you in our 2nd Ladies team next season.
