Ferndale Girls 6 v 4 Leamington Lions

  Shanice 4, Beck , Lucy

After last weeks excellent win in the friendly against Solihull, the new look Ferndale side’s first league game of the season was at home to what was to be a very much-improved Leamington team. On today’s performance Leamington will not be very far off come the end of the season.

The game started at a very high tempo with both teams having an even amount of possession, but it was to be Leamington who were to have the best of the opening goal scoring opportunities, this was to bring 3 excellent saves from Jen to keep the score line level.

After 25 mins it was Ferndale who took the lead after a superb passing sequence saw Emma laying the final ball onto Shanice who buried the ball into the bottom far corne of the net great goal. A few mins later Leamington hit back with 25 yarder into the top corner, unstoppable, 1-1. Ferndale were to come back again to make 2-1 with a goal that was a carbon copy of their 1st, shanice driving it home again. Shanice then got her hatrick after another fine move 3-1 to Ferndale. Just before half time Leamington scored a great goal from a corner to make 3-2 at half time.

10 mins into the 2nd half Ferndale extended their lead with Beck Wright following in on a spillage from the keeper. Leamington then hit back again driving the ball into the top corner 4-3 to Ferndale, Exciting game.

Just a few mins later Shanice went on one of her runs to claim her 4th goal of the game- great performance. Ferndale then went on to get their 6th goal of the game after a fine move down the right (after the ball had been won on the left side of defence by Jodie) saw Emma cross the ball ,this was then half cleared by the Leamington defence, Lucy picked up play on the edge of the area and hammered the ball into the back of the net 6-3 to Ferndale. With only a few seconds remaining Leaminton picked up the ball in midfield and whacked a 30 yrd screamer into top corner far side, great way for this thoroughly entertaining game to finish. Final score 6-4 to Ferndale

This was a superb match with some quality football played from both sides.

Player of the match went to: Jenny – a very competent performance – 3 excellent saves early prevented Ferndale from having to chase the game – Well Done.

Well done girls great win and super passing football played

Redditch Utd 0 v 8 Ferndale Girls

  Beck 6, Shanice, Lucy

After last weeks excellent start to the season, Ferndale travelled over to Redditch to play on a rather heavy pitch with long grassy areas. Before I start the match report a big thank you goes to the lady in the nearby house whom allowed our girls and some parents to use her toilet facilities.

Ferndale started the game strongly with some superb passing football on show, the 1st half saw Beck Wright net twice sending Ferndale into a 2-0 half time lead.

The 1st 10 mins of the restart saw Redditch taking control of the game, however it wasn’t to be to long before Ferndale regained control with some fine passing moves being carved out. We were to see some clinical finishing in front of goal from Beck Wright to take her goal tally for the game to 6, fantastic performance.

Shanice was to pop up with 5 mins remaining to take the score to 7 – 0 and then Lucy got her 2nd goal in two games to make the final scoreline 8 – 0 to Ferndale.

A great performance from everyone again today, special mention must go to Beck, an ever-impressive performance from Emma on the wing (is there a better crosser of the ball) and Emily T. in holding midfield superb controlling performance

Players of the match- this was shared between Beck Wright & Emily Taylor to close to split , well done both.

P.S Jen & Defence 1st clean sheet well done 1st of many!!

League Match

Stratford Town 0 v 10 Ferndale Girls

  Beck 3, Shanice 3, Lucy 3, Emma

After a long journey Ferndale finally arrived at Stratford to find a huge pitch in front of them to play on.

As the game began Ferndale started with a high tempo to their play and were 2-0 up within 10mins, for the remainder of the half Ferndale were to control the pace of the game and went in to the half time break 4 – 0 up.

In the 2nd half shanice came on as sub (suffering with a heavy cold) & along with Beck. W gave Stratford a double headache. Credit must go to Stratford who never stopped working, but Ferndale were just to strong for them & ended up finishing the game 10 – 0 winners.

Player of the match – Emma Pearce – continuing her rich vein of form – superb crosses.

Special mention also goes to our 3 players who each bagged a hatrick – goal of the game going to Lucy whom chipped the keeper from 20 yards.

Well-done girls.

Brereton social 6 v 0 Ferndale Girls

after a long journey to Rugely a depleted Ferndale side who were without Charlotte, (had beck & lucy carrying injuries & Emily T feelin un well) faced a strong Brereton side. it was Brereton who took the lead after only a few minutes but the game was evenley fought throughout the half, but i have to say ferndale should have been at least 3-1 up at half time. half time 1-0.

as the 2nd half progressed the injuries & sickness to ferndale began to take its toll with the ferndale midfield worst affected this allowing Brereton to attack at will. final score 6-0 to Brereton.

player of the match- Lucy bishop - tireless running evev though carrying an injury.

p.s Brereton will see a different Ferndale in a few weeks time with a full fit squad available, well done to everybody especially to the girls who still wanted to play with sickness & injuries.
