Ferndale Youth Under 12s Team Information
Ferndale Youth Girls U12
Team Information.
As a new team last season the girls had a lot to learn. However despite a shaky start the team bonded well and both managers and girls experienced a steep learning curve. Finally the season finished following the girls efforts with the team finishing 3rd in the Mercian League and runners up in the Ron Handy Memorial Trophy. To reach a final in their first season shows how far the girls had come as a new team, and this was enhanced by 9 wins and a draws with a “plus” goal difference in the league, making all parents, managers and sponsors extremely proud. Supported by our sponsors Eaton Property Services (kit) and RS Electrics (training jackets),for which we say thank you, it can clearly be seen as an excellent first season.
For the 2008-2009 season we wanted to continue challenging the girls. With this in mind it was decided that the Under 12 Youth would break with tradition and join the Stourbridge & District League, becoming the first ever team from Ferndale (Boys & Girls) to do so. As such the team will be aiming to make their mark and live up to the Ferndale reputation.
This season will see the girls taking part in a slightly bigger league than the Mercian, with 7 teams in the age group, and again the girls will have further to go as the league will be playing 9 a side. After their achievements last season we feel this is the best way to continue their development in their second season, with more/new teams to play and a change in the format of the game.
All that remains is to wish the girls every success in this season. The management feel that with the commitment shown by the girls, and their willingness to learn, this will almost certainly be achieved.
